31 Day Challenge - Day 4

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Every other summer, my two brothers, my parents, and I would go to Antelope Lake in California. We would camp for two weeks, which sounds like a lot, but there was so much to do! My dad would go out in the early morning and take photographs, and my mom would read whatever romance novels she brought along with her. But, my brothers and I would go fishing, jump off of big rocks into the lake, and walk to the crystal clear stream and see what wildlife was roaming around. There was something so relaxing about walking down to the soft dirt bank and watching the minnows dart back and forth in the stream. I did it often, even without my brothers.

Sometimes, we would go to Lake Almanor to meet my mother's friends who owned a condo there. They would take us out on their boat to go tubing through the fresh blue water. One time when we went, the summer Olympics were on, and I vividly remember watching them during our swimming breaks.

At night we would play cards as a family, or roast marshmallows and listen to my dad tell us stories. At times it seemed boring, but now that I'm an adult, those times that we spent at the lake were the best times.

What's your favorite memory from childhood? Leave me a comment and let me know! I'm always looking for new ways of making memories for my kids. :o)

  1. That sounds so nice, I love camping! We used to go sometimes, but only for a weekend. I have a lot of great childhood memories, it's hard to choose... My brothers and I had a lot of fun just playing outside with our friends after school. :)

    1. I think that's a great childhood memory too, Camille!! I'm happy to live in a place where I feel comfortable allowing my kids to play outside with all of the other neighborhood kids. I think that playing outside with friends is one of the most treasured childhood memories someone can have, and so many of us take it for granted, me included! :o)
